Northwood English Communication Academy has two schools in the south-western part of Hyogo Prefecture and each of them is located in a small city which has developed around a castle. We have been dedicated to the English education in these local communities for about 30 years and want our teachers to become part of the community. We are extremely concerned with actual learning and use unique and lively 
approaches to accomplish this. Although we have adult students, our main students are children and teenagers, ages 3 – 18. 

Job

Full-time, 5 days/week, Tue-Sat., 22 teaching hours and 18 office working hours per week, which makes 40 hours/week(=8 hrs./day x 5 days). Teaching oral communication, reading and some writing to children and students (K-12) as well as adults, and material/curriculum development. Active involvement in a few annual events, such as speech contest and kids day picnic. Training will be provided.

Job Requirements

BA, native speaker, computer literacy, driver's license and two years experience in teaching English (preferably in Japan) required. MA (specialization in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Education, English literature or Linguistics) or teaching certification, and basic knowledge of Japanese preferred. We are looking for a teacher who is professionally-minded and really serious in teaching, preferably who has been pursuing teaching career, and who truly loves children and small cities. Applicants must reside in Japan and be able to come to our school for interview and demonstration.

Benefits

Starting salary will be 270,000 yen. To be raised twice, 5,000 yen each time, within the first six months depending upon performance. We will sponsor or renew visa. Furnished apartment is provided. Key money is paid by us. All you have to do is to pay the monthly rent and utilities. About 5 weeks paid holidays, contribution bonus, commutation allowance, free use of car is provided. (We share 50/50 car insurance and “shaken” car inspection charge. You have to pay gas yourself.) Half of the Japanese National Health Insurance premium is covered by the school.

Position

The position officially starts on March 1, 2010. We are looking for a teacher who can come somewhat earlier for training. We want teachers to enjoy teaching and working for us for a long time, preferably for more than two years, and at the same time enjoy mingling with people in the community.
